Presenting the Canadian Tire JumpStart program!
Canadian Tire believes all children and youth should have the chance to run, skate, play and grow. That’s why we have created the Canadian Tire JumpStart Program: a community-based charitable program from the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families, that helps children ages 4 to 18, in need, participate in organized physical activities.
Our mandate is to provide financially disadvantaged children in Sault Ste. Marie with the opportunity to participate in recreational and sporting activities by providing funding of up to $300.00 per child to pay for registration fees, with consideration towards equipment costs, on a case-by-case basis. The program is funded through a variety of fund raising initiatives, including national signature events. 100 % of the money raised goes directly to benefit the child.
Recreation & Sport Guidelines:
The program is designed to get children active. Any recreational or sport program should include physical activity. Funding should be for a sustained program that lasts a season. (ie. One-week sports camp would not qualify.) Funding goes towards sponsorship of individuals age 4 to 18 once per calendar year (not teams). When approved, payment is given directly to the organization operating the recreational, sporting, or physical activity program.
Canadian Tire has partnered with the Sault Sports Council and the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Recreation & Culture Division to form our local chapter of the JumpStart program. Applications are now being accepted. Attached is the Canadian Tire JumpStart application guidelines and application form. Please take the time to review, give consideration to, and endorse an application on behalf a child/youth who is interested in participating in a specific recreational opportunity or sport, and who may be limited to do so due to financial restraints. We encourage you to submit applications as soon as possible, as the applications will begin to be reviewed the first week of November and funding is limited.
We look forward to helping the children and youth in our community in making physical activity a priority, and in providing them with the opportunity to participate in recreation and sports so they can develop healthier lifestyles.
Sincerely, Matt Lawless Debbie Bouchard Eric Mosker Canadian Tire Associate Store Sault Ste. Marie Dealer |
